New York State Baseball Coaches Associaiton History

By coachmarra on 30 November 2009

In January of 2003 after returning from the American Baseball Coaches Convention in San Diego, CA, high school baseball coaches Mike Marra (Monticello HS) and John Sotitle (North Rockland) began to set in motion the idea of creating a baseball coaches association in New York.

New York ranks #5 in the Country in players who play professional baseball (either attending high school or colleges in New York), yet there was no organzation at the State level. There were State organizations in the top 4 (California, Texas, Arizona, Florida) so Mike and John decided New York should "step up to the plate".

After taking small steps to build a membership base, the Association has now grown from some 20 members in 2003 to over 100 in 2008. The executive board added Jim Carrese (Shenendehowa HS) as Vice President

We are now proud to announce the First Annual NYSBCA Baseball Coaches Convention. As we continue to grow the game in New York we need the support of New York State baseball coaches now more than ever to make this association work and be a credible voice in amateur baseball here in the Empire State.

Please help take a step in history be attending the First Annual NYSBCA Baseball Coaches Convention in Albany on January 29-30, 2010.
